Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!

Bienvenidos / Welcome -- we're celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with news and updates on some of our Latino/a writers at Full Circle Literary!

Simon & Schuster's Diversity Council celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month on October 13th, and welcomed author Alma Flor Ada to Roc Center.

Those in attendance enjoyed some flavorful Hispanic dishes, including chicken and beef empanadas, yellow and white rice, red and black beans, baked chicken, pepper steak, Cuban sandwiches and flan. While enjoying the delicious food, Ada discussed her books, with the aid of a PowerPoint presentation, and what Hispanic culture means to her. Later, Ada signed copies of her books
Under the Royal Palms, Three Golden Oranges and Tales Our Abuelitas Told for all in attendance. Alma Flor Ada's latest middle grade book (co-written with her son Gabriel Zubizarreta), Dancing Home, will be available in spring 2012. Click here to view a video clip from Ada's presentation.

Scholastic Book Fairs
has included Diana López's debut middle grade novel Confetti Girl as a "Featured Book" for grades 6-8. To check out the Scholastic book trailer, click here. You can also visit Diana's "Wacky Socks Gallery" where she gathers photos of all the wacky socks from her book and school events across the county. Such fun!
