FIESTA BABIES by Carmen Tafolla; illustrated by Amy Córdova, published by Tricycle Press/Random House, is named a Pura Belpré Honor for illustration. From piñatas to flower coronas, little ones are introduced to the many colorful aspects of an important and lively Latino cultural tradition. These Fiesta Babies dance, march on parade, and sing along to mariachi songs in this spirited celebration of fiestas. This is Amy Córdova’s second Pura Belpré Honor Book;
WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A REBOZO? also written by Carmen Tafolla, was awarded Belpré Honor in 2008.
The Pura Belpré Award, established in 1996 by the American Library Association, is presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A PALETA?, illustrated by Magaly Morales, also published by Tricycle Press/Random House has been awarded the prestigious
Charlotte Zolotow Award for Best Picture Book in 2010, the 2010 Américas Book Award for Children's Literature, and the 2010 Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children's Book Award.
